Come unto Me

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Is how Jesus taught us to pray.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses,
Your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Forgiving others, is the first step to our healing.
To forgive, is not to be in denial.
It is to admit that something happened -
Words that cut and damaged.
And give those words over to the Savior.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
And I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
For I am meek and lowly in heart:
And ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Hurtful words, labels, and pain from others,
Must be given to Jesus instead of internalized.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
And replaced with His perfect love.
And when these feelings have developed over
Years of heartache and hate,
Forgiveness may not be a one-time act,
But daily, we must choose to give our burdens
Back to our Savior...
At the feet of the cross.
