Released

[via]

she realized that she was the only one
who would ever be enough
and as she wrapped her arms around herself
for the first time
she released them all from her chains.

  1. Lorraine,
    Absolutely beautiful writing.

I think your first four lines are really pertinent to me. I love that she loved herself, and only now for the first time.

How long have you been writing? What inspires you to write?
Is the image of the chain also yours?

    All the best
    Steph

    1. Thank you so much Steph! I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I've had a journal since I was able to write lol. As for the inspiration - emotions inspire me to write. They are so complex and fascinating and I love experiencing them all. I want my words to inspire others, and help them process and accept all emotions as well. The image of the chain is not mine, as you can see the link right below it [via] - click on that and it will take you to the source of the image. (:

      Thanks for stopping by <3

  2. I re-watched Penelope last week and this poem reminds me of her story. Beautiful!
